The Importance of Education
We recognize that education is not just a fundamental right, as stipulated in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (Article 28), but also:
- A key factor in ensuring a nation’s future prosperity and stability
- The principal weapon against the spread of HIV/AIDS
- The best defense against abuse, neglect, and impoverishment
Our programs aim to address the challenges that often prevent OVC from attending school, including associated costs, lack of access, poor quality of teaching/learning, and perceived irrelevance of schooling.
Lidos Junior Schools
Our flagship education initiative is Lidos Junior Schools, a nursery and primary school complex that provides free education to over 50 children. At Lidos Junior Schools:
- Students receive free education and all basic support necessities
- We provide a nurturing environment that fosters learning and personal growth
- Our curriculum is designed to empower students with knowledge and skills for a brighter future
- We offer additional support such as meals, uniforms, and school supplies to ensure students can focus on their studies
Education Support Programs
Beyond Lidos Junior Schools, we offer various support programs to enhance educational outcomes:
- Free Tutoring Programs: Extra academic support to help students excel in their studies
- Scholastic Materials Provision: Ensuring students have the necessary books, stationery, and other learning materials
- Access to Educational Facilities: Working to make educational resources available to children who might not have them otherwise
Future School Projects
We are committed to expanding our reach to provide education to more children in need. Our plans include:
- Building additional support schools in other economically marginalized communities across Uganda
- Developing partnerships with existing schools to enhance their capacity to serve OVC
- Implementing mobile learning solutions to reach children in remote areas
